In honour of Lily Wright, who passed away of cancer this past year, our guild has plans to make a simple quilt in her memory to donate to The Quilt in Stratford. These donated quilts are then auctioned to raise money for support for people living with cancer.
Members who wish to participate are asked to contribute 6 in sqares of fabric, over 300 squares will be needed to complete this quilt! These fabrics should represent Lily and what she most gained pleasure from, such things as gardening, antiques, knitting, needlework, chrochet, embroidery, family, grandchildren, home, etc and of course quiting. A Moda antique red fabric will be used for the backing, so Moda fabrics will be a great choice. All fabric will be collected by Karen C. and a place of honour will be set up at a table each month. We hope to have all the fabric we need by January 1st and then a get together for members on a Saturday, will be arranged to piece the quilt. Backing and batting will be provided by the guild, Karen C will be doing the machine quilting, Cynthia M-R has volunteered to do some applique, but are still seeking more volunteers, please speak to Karen C. if you would like to participate. We hope to donate this quilt to The Quilt 2010. Comments are closed.
