Your August newsletter, along with your membership registration for the 2008 - 2009 guild year is on it's way so check your mailbox. September is quickly approaching so don't delay, complete your membership registration form and return it soon. Also, get your Quilt Show Registration forms in too! There is a lot of work to put on a quilt show and the more they can get done earlier the better. If you have misplaced your registration form, drop us an email and we can email a copy to you, or contact Karen Whistlecraft. Our first meeting is on Thursday, September 11 at 7 PM, our guest speaker is Garnet Smalley and he will be talking about the African Quilt Show that will be held in Ailsa Craig. Quilters on Vacation: Mt Brydges, Coldstream, Ailsa Craig Christine and I (blog ed.) are going on a quilt retreat in October, so we decided to take a Saturday and go shopping for supplies for our retreat. We started in Mt Brydges and visited Sew Creative. Joan Hilhorst is the new owner and has a lovely, well stocked store! We picked up some solid black fabric for our retreat. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo there :( but with the trusty GPS, we were on our way to Coldstream: Our next stop was The Marsh Store in Coldstream, where Nellie greeted us at the door! A lovely store located in a beautiful old house, behind the house is the Coldstream Conservation Area. There I picked up a bunch of fat quarters! Next we stopped for lunch, and then on to Ailsa Craig. At this point we got caught in a few downpours, but by the time we reached Ailsa Craig the sun was out again and only in the distance could you hear the thunder! At Cotton by Post we got to see a few previews of the African quilts that will be in the upcoming African Quilt Show. Garnet let us take this photo with a few samples of some of the classes that will be available. He is very excited about this show; there was a feature in the latest Canadian Quilter Newsletter on display. We'll get to hear more about this show when he visits our guild on September 11. *********************
Good News! Valerie Hearder lost quilts found! If you recall, Valerie Hearder had her trunk full of quilts stolen at Quilt Canada, well it seems most of them had been dumped in garbage bags in a park. You can read about it on her blog here. Comments are closed.
